Okay, this article to help people who wish to purchase anti-virus/spyware softwares but not sure which one to purchase. I've used several over the few years, and I want to share my experience with you. Each has my rating and comment, the rating is based on the following:***** - Five stars (Really good, highly recommended)
**** - Four stars (Pretty good, has some cons)
*** - Three Stars (Okay, not pretty good)
** - Two stars (Not bad, has a lot of cons)
* - One Star (Really bad, not reommended at all)
xx - NONE (No personal experience)
Anti-Virus Programs
- McAfee Anti-Virus Professional [www]

- Pros: Scans IM (Instant messages), emails, attachments
- Cons: None that I've experienced so far.

McAfee Anti-Virus is a must for those who are looking for one. It's might be a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it. I've been using it for several months and I haven't had any problems using it.
- Norton Anti-Virus [www]

- Pros: Scans IM, emails, and attachments.
- Cons: While scanning, your computer often freezes, and/or internet slows down.

Norton isn't actually a bad company, I used to use Norton anti-virus, but unfortunately Norton doesn't completely remove the virus in my old computer, so I changed to McAfee. Also, when scanning your files, your computer might freeze or your internet connection slows down, I've experienced both.

I've never used this one before, but I tried the trial version, and it was not as good as they said.
Anti-Spyware/Adware Programs

- Pros: Fewer popups, and better PC performance.
- Cons: Nothing I've experienced so far.

I have TWO, yes TWO anti-spyware programs installed in my computer o.O and SpySweeper is one of them. SpySweeper was first installed on my old computer which had a lot of viruses and popups. We tried stopping it using SpySweeper, and it didn't work because apparently we installed it too late. If we'd installed it earlier, SpySweeper wouldn't be overwhelmed with the amount of viruses and spywares in our computer. Then I installed it on my new laptop, and SpySweeper is a really good tool to keep spywares away. It detects any changes or addition to the following:
- Favourite sites
- Change to homepage
- Change to start-up programs

Yes, McAfee anti-spyware is the other anti-spyware program that's installed in my computer, and it's an excellent, and reliable anti-spyware program. This program is highly recommended for those who are looking.
